
‘End–to–end file–based solutions’, ‘accelerated workflow’, ‘digital asset management’ - not exactly phrases to set pulses racing. But here at Red Bee Media we think they're very sexy - particularly when we add them all together to make our client's business more efficient, more creative and more profitable.
Thus was the story with Virgin Media TV – the largest supplier of channels to the UK pay–TV market – who (as part of a competitive tender) asked us to pitch a radical and future-proof solution to their playout, content management and promotional requirements.
And radical it certainly was, with playout based in our state–of–the–art Broadcast Centre in West London, and channel editorial (scheduling, promotions, compliance etc) located over in Central London at Virgin Media TV's Great Portland Street headquarters.
At the heart of this solution is a digital asset management system which schedules the digital storage and workflow of media and co-ordinates the two-way transfer of that media between Virgin Media TV and our playout facility.
Alongside the digital asset management system proudly sits (big fanfare!) Virgin Media TV’s new Creative Village, which we built on their behalf in Great Portland Street. This provides a shiny new space for their promotions and compliance teams to weave their creative and editorial magic in a tapeless, file–based and end–to–end environment. Very sexy indeed.
