Red Bee Media to provide playout and media management services for BT’s live sports channels.

Red Bee Media, one of the world’s leading media services companies providing multi-platform technology and creative solutions to broadcasters, content rights holders, platform operators and brand owners, today announced it has signed an exclusive multi-year deal with BT.

The deal, which was secured following a competitive pitch process, will see Red Bee Media provide playout, channel and media management services for BT’s new live sports offering, BT Sport. The channels, which will be available 24 hours a day in HD and SD, are slated to launch this summer and will be available across the UK via various platforms including satellite, fibre broadband and pubs/clubs.

"We are delighted to have teamed up with Red Bee Media for playout, channel and media management services. It’s vitally important that we have complete confidence in our ability to deliver the amazing live sports coverage we’ll be offering to customers of BT Sport. We chose Red Bee Media because of its impressive expertise in supporting this type of live event broadcasting. We are happy to extend our relationship with Red Bee Media, having already chosen them to help us with the design the BT Sport logo.”

Grant Best Senior Channel Executive Producer, BT Sport

"We are delighted to be chosen by BT to provide these critical services for the eagerly awaited BT Sport channels. This is a significant win for Red Bee Media and is testament both to our excellent track record in delivering high quality, reliable and cost effective media distribution solutions and our expertise and experience in managing the demanding nature of high-profile live events and sports programming. We look forward to working with BT on this exciting launch and to extending and developing our relationship further over the coming months.”

Patrick Tillieux Chief Executive Officer, Red Bee Media

BT unveiled its new BT Sport logo in February, which was designed in partnership with Red Bee Media. The new identity for the channels, which is also being developed together with Red Bee Media, will feature in all BT Sport marketing materials, on air and across social media.

BT Sport has the rights to show 38 live games a season from the Barclays Premier League, including 18 of the top clashes. The channels will also show up to 69 live rugby union games a season from the Aviva Premiership. BT has also signed a deal with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to show up to 800 hours of live tennis, including the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships. The BT Sport channels will be based at the iCITY development at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
