Red Bee Media Australia Captioning of the FIFA World Cup 2010
Red Bee Media will be captioning the expert commentary for SBS’s comprehensive coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2010.
The tournament coverage includes 64 live matches, replays, Cup news bulletins and match analysis programs.
Red Bee Media will be captioning live, in real-time from 8:30am-7:00pm for 31 days. Their technology will use a combination of stenography and re-speaking techniques. Stenography is the process of writing in shorthand using a stenography machine, used widely in courts. Re-speaking uses voice recognition technologies to turn the captioner’s voice into text which appears on the screen as captions.
Red Bee Media has an experienced team of highly trained stenographers and re-speakers who caption live coverage such as sport, elections and news programs. The team will rotate up to 10 stenographers and 10 re-speakers to cover the 315 hours of match related programming for the tournament.
World Cup captioning will run alongside Red Bee Media’s usual captioning services for other clients, the main free to air broadcasters, captioning for television commercials, live events (Live Remote Captioning) and providing foreign language subtitles and translations.
