The Challenge

The Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO) organisation is responsible for the overall management of public broadcasting in the Netherlands. The NPO was in need of a system that could manage the great range of scheduling and EPG entries. They needed to move from a largely print-focused listings service to a feature-rich metadata management solution.

The Solution

Red Bee Media’s metadata platform was the ideal choice. Built to manage a vast array of related programme data, it could easily cope with the scale that the NPO required. Our team worked out a sub-license model to enable the database to be used by the NPO to better co-ordinate programming between their channels and manage their EPG listings information. The system also delivers the EPG to over 50 destinations including print, web, cable, satellite and IPTV platforms. Accessible via a secure (Citrix VPN) broadband connection, our metadata platform can be accessed from any of NPO’s offices.

The Result

The NPO now have a highly flexible tool fit for a multi-channel, multi-device market that can be readily adapted for future change, be that a growth in channel count or a shift in the target audience of a channel. Since its introduction, our team has continually worked with the client to ensure they reach the full potential of the metadata platform.
