“Have you thought about Live captions up in the air?”
Since 2015, Ericsson has provided live captioning services for Australian News Channel (ANC)’s SKY NEWS LIVE and SKY NEWS BUSINESS available in 2.8 million subscribing homes. Ericsson also provides captioning services for SKY NEWS produced bulletins on all international and domestic Qantas flights. The captions are delivered as an as-live service to ensure the news is as current and up-to-date as possible.

Josbert joined Ericsson Broadcast & Media Services in April 2016, to lead innovative strategic projects on Data, Advertising and Online video. Since July 2016 Josbert is responsible as well for the Dutch entity in the role of Managing Director Netherlands. Prior to Red Bee Media/Ericsson Josbert gained over 20 years of experience in Broadcast Media. For 12 years at SBS in CTO role, Business Development and interim management and Group roles in Sanoma and Prosieben/Sat1. Josbert studied Economics at the Amsterdam School of Business & Economics and has a degree in Business Administration.
Jerome is Head of Market Area Southern Europe since Aug 1st 2018. He joined the media services business 10 years ago as Key Account Manager for Technicolor Network Services which was acquired by Ericsson in 2012. He then became Managing Director in France and Head of Sales for Ericsson Broadcast Services in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy. Beforehand, Jérôme, graduated as a telecom engineer, held various position within R&D, operations, pre-sales, sales engineer between 1998 and 2008 for telecom equipment suppliers (Nortel, Cirpack) in Poland, South Africa, France, United States.
Daniel has been working in post-production since 2000 when he joined TVP as a runner, over the last 18 years he has held many roles including tape operator, scheduler, bookings co-ordinator, operations manager and now Post production manager.
As a result he has a great understanding of all areas of post production.
After starting his career recording popular acts live such as Florence and the machine, Mumford and Sons and Fat Freddie’s Drop, Lewis turned his skills to TV and in particular short form sound design and mixing. He now provides a fast, friendly and creative studio which aims to support the storytelling through sound craft.
Chris has built a strong reputation as a freelance Editor specialising in short form Drama. At the beginning of this year he decided to take a staff position with Red Bee media. He has a particular talent for crafting a story as well as excellent sound design.
Sion has been working in post-production for around 5 years, starting as a runner in Soho, he spent 2 years as an edit assistant before making the step up to Editor. He has a strong eye for detail and a gift for turning projects around quickly, recently he has been focusing on offline, but is equally comfortable with online and finishing.
After working for over 25 years in Soho at a leading Post house on Commercials and Trailers. Thomas joined the Red Bee post team to share his knowledge and experience.
Åsa is part of the Advisory Board of Red Bee Media since 2018. Åsa is also Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Technology and Emerging Business at Ericsson from April 1, 2018.
Prior to joining Ericsson, Åsa was a partner in McKinsey’s Stockholm office. Over the last 12 years she has been focusing her work on growth strategy, marketing and sales and digital transformations in high tech and telecommunications across Europe, the US, and South America. She has also been based in McKinsey’s San Francisco and Sao Paulo offices.
She has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and been a core leader of McKinsey’s Start-up lab, supporting the growth of several tech start-ups in the Nordics. Prior to joining McKinsey, Åsa served private equity companies while working for a French strategy consulting firm, worked in business controlling at H&M, and held a business development role at the International Herald Tribune. She holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics.
Carl started as Chairman of Red Bee Media in 2018 in addition to his assignment as group CFO of Ericsson.
Carl Mellander is CFO of Ericsson since April 1, 2017. He was previously Acting CFO from July 2016 to March 2017. Prior to this role he held the positions as Head of Treasury (between 2015 and July 2016) and Head of Finance in Region Western and Central Europe (2010 – 2015).
Carl Mellander joined Ericsson the first time in in 1994. He left the company in 2003 and worked in different senior finance positions for Saab and Telecom Management Partner AS in Africa. He joined Ericsson again in 2007 as Head of Finance for Market Unit Northern Europe.
Mellander has held various positions in finance and business control through his career in Ericsson. He has lived and worked for Ericsson in UK, Germany, Costa Rica and the US, in addition to his positions at the Headquarters in Stockholm.
Mellander is Deputy Chairman of the Swedish Association of Corporate Treasurers.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics from the University of Stockholm, Sweden.
EDWARD ODEVALL
Edward joined as CFO of Red Bee Media in September 2018. He joins most recently from Ericsson-LG in Rep. of Korea where he held a dual position as Deputy CFO for Ericsson-LG and as CFO of Ericsson-LG Enterprise. Edward brings an international finance career with experiences from around the world. He has lived and worked in India, Central America and North East Asia, in addition to his positions at the Ericsson Headquarters in Stockholm. He has experience from Board positions in Thailand and Vietnam.
Edward holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from The School of Economics and Management at Lund University.
Reine joined Red Bee Media as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer in December 2017 from Ericsson where he managed several multinational telecommunication operators accounts on all continents. He started his international career in R&D for more than 20 years ago, before switching to the services business where he was in charge of business development for managed services as well as leading global operations.
Reine launched the first as a service transmission business over microwaves in North America and was responsible for Ericsson’s first global network operations center for the managed services business. Reine graduated from Mid Sweden University with a bachelor in computer science and math.
James is Chief Commercial Officer of Red Bee Media, a position he held when Ericsson acquired the business in 2014. He has been involved in providing Broadcast Managed Services for 15 years and has been instrumental in the development of the UK market through his personal leadership and responsibility for the majority of strategic outsourcing business Red Bee Media has secured in this market.
James graduated from Leeds University with BA (Hons) and is an FCA and MBA.
Andy has led the Creative business since its inception as a BBC commercial venture in 2002 and established Red Bee’s reputation as a leader in TV brand identity and promotion and as a pioneer in content marketing on moving screens.
Prior to that he had gained 20 years’ experience in the advertising industry, with his most recent senior roles being Managing Director of The Campaign Palace, Sydney and Head of Client Services at Bates UK.
Andy is Honorary Professor of Film & TV Studies at the University of Nottingham and a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences including the Media Guardian Edinburgh International TV Festival, Eurovision Connect and PromaxBDA.
Claire joined Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services in Sept 2017.
Prior to that she spent over 20 years working in Human Resources in companies such as Ericsson, Hutchison 3, Thames Water living in the UK, Singapore, Egypt and UAE
Her most recent senior roles include HRBP Network Services Region Western Central Europe (3 years) and HRBP Operations Region Middle East (4 years).
Claire graduated from Thames Valley University after studying in Personnel Management in 1999.
Stephen Riome has over 30 years media experience gained from deploying and developing linear and non-linear businesses on 4 continents. Stephen served as Managing Director of the On Demand Group, which over a period of 8 years grew from a single client UK focused content aggregation business into one dealing with 65 mobile operators in 26 countries. The Carlyle Group acquired the On Demand Group in 2011 to create Vubiquity after which Stephen was appointed Managing Director International. Stephen also served on management teams launching and developing the Orbit Showtime Network in the Middle East, STAR TV in Asia, Sky, MTV, and TV3 (MTG) in Europe. In 2014, Stephen co-founded Digital Media Distribution, offering board level media experts to blue-chip clients around the globe. He specializes in OTT, Digital Strategy, Negotiations, B2C Marketing and Transactional Video. Stephen is an Electro-Mechanical Engineer and has a Masters Degree in Business from Nottingham Trent University.
David is one of the newest LT members since joining in October 2016 and has been in his current role since joining from Babcock Media Services.
Prior to that, David gained over 20 years in media industry in Technology, Commercial and Strategy roles with most recent senior positions being CTO at Babcock Media services for 2 years and at WRN broadcast for 5 years.
David holds multiple Broadcast Engineering accreditations and is a Microsoft Certified Engineer.
Georg joined Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services in March 2015 to lead Content Discovery division and has been in his current role since Nov 2016.
Prior to that he had gained over 20 years of experience within the digital media, Telecoms, publishing industries with most recent senior roles being Director Business Development & Product Strategy in Funke Digital TV Guide and Axel Springer Digital TV Guide, Berlin
Georg holds BA Business Administration & Economics diploma with specialisation in strategic management from European University, Montreux, Switzerland.
Steve spends his time looking forward, identifying the technology trends, enablers and disruptions that drive industries and harnessing them into tangible business results. Prior to joining Red Bee Media in 2009, Steve spent 9 years at Motorola where he was Chief Architect of the Future Solutions Group. Before Motorola, Steve held technology leadership positions at large multinationals including Citibank.
Steve holds an M.Sc. in Advanced Networking, professional certifications from MIT and accredited memberships of the IET and IEEE.
Thomas joined Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services in March 2011 and has been in his current role since June 2017.
Prior to that Thomas was Head of Central Platform Operations including Ericsson’s Online TV operations and Head of Nordic Operations within Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services. Before joining Ericsson, Thomas worked in various leadership roles and transformational positions within Sveriges Television, the largest Public Broadcaster in the Nordics.
Thomas graduated from Bond University, Australia, with a Masters in Political Science.
Steve was appointed CEO and joined Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services in July 2017
He joined Ericsson in 2011 as the Head of Sourcing within Ericsson’s global services business unit and was appointed Head of Global Services Operations in 2013
Prior to that, Steve spent nearly two decades within the Kinnevik and Modern Times Group companies in various executive level positions and was a key member of the executive management team that successfully developed and managed the IPO of the groups leading media properties, which span TV and radio broadcasting, content production, media services, print and online media
Steve served as an officer of the Swedish military before attending Stockholm School of Economics. Steve also serves as a board member of Nordic Archipelago Investments AB.
David is a member of the Advisory Board at Red Bee Media since 2017. He is also currently a chairman of the Modern Times Group MTG AB Board of Directors since May 2003, and a member of the Board since 1998. Besides that, he is also chairman and an Non-Executive Director for PCCW Media Ltd., HK since 2015.
Previously, David was Chairman of Top Up TV Ltd (2003-2014) and Non-Executive Director of BSkyB plc (1998-2000) as well as board positions at ITV plc (2000-2004) and mobile phone network O2 plc. (2000-2005).
David was Deputy Managing Director/COO of the BSkyB Group (1989-1998) and Marketing Director at Scientific Atlanta (1981-1987). Before joining BSkyB, David was the UK Sales and Marketing Director of European satellite broadcaster, SES/Astra (1987-1989).
David graduated with a BA in Psychology, a BS in Industrial Relations and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
Pelle Tornberg has over 35 years of experience in the media and telecommunication industry and is profiled as one of 25 “Stars of Europe” by Business Week. Since 2007 he is the owner of SeaBay Capital with investments in Starz Play Arabia, Metro USA, HBO Nordic etc.
Since 2017 he is a member of the Red Bee Media Advisory Board (prior to that he was Senior Advisor to Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services). He is Advisor to National Research Institute of Soft Power, China, as well as Senior Advisor to Axel Johnson AB and Telia Company AB. From 1989 to 2007 Pelle developed the media business in Kinnevik Group, public Scandinavia based
Investment Company. He has successfully built, listed and led two profitable, international media businesses: MTG (director, chairman and CEO 1993-2009) and Metro International (CEO 2000-2007) and has been a chairman/ Director of several public and private companies.
In his initial days at Kinnevik Group (1988) he started Strix Television, now one of the biggest TV production companies in the Nordics and a prominent player in the international market.
Pelle completed his Studies at the Department of Journalism, University of Gothenburg.
Magnus joined Ericsson in 2004 to run Ericsson’s Managed Services, and subsequently the global services business. After that, he had the position of EVP (since 2011) and Senior Adviser to the CEO (since 2016) of the Ericsson Group. He founded Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services in 2007 and grew the company into a global business with 2500 employees. Since 2017 he is Chairman of Red Bee Media.
Prior to joining Ericsson, Magnus held C-level positions within the Swedish conglomerate Kinnevik, the parent company of Millicom SA and TELE2 AB. As CEO of TELE2 Europe, he took the company from a start-up project to a pan-European business, with 20 million subscribers in 26 countries
Previously, as COO for Millicom, he was responsible for implementation of global marketing and sales programs, common branding, technology and common procurement for various operations. He also pioneered taking the pre-paid business model to previously underserved emerging markets
Magnus has previously had multiple executive roles within IKEA. He is also a board member of Interogo Foundation, parent company for inter IKEA Group (IKEA), and Lund University
